Your first visit

Your first visit, in order

About 75 minutes. Later visits run about 50.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Before you come

After you book, you get a link to our intake form. You fill in your health history there, in private, not on this website.

    Fill out the intake form
  2. 02

    Step 2: You arrive

Come a few minutes early. Suite 204 is on the second floor, and the waiting nook has tea.

  3. 03

    Step 3: We talk

About 20 minutes: what you take, what your doctor has planned, and what you would like from the visit. Your acupuncturist explains the risks before any needle goes in.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The treatment

You lie on a padded table, covered. Needles stay in for 20 to 30 minutes, and you can rest.

  5. 05

    Step 5: A plan

A short, written plan for the next few visits, matched to your clinic's calendar, and a look at how fees work.

Before you come

What to wear, eat and bring

Small things that make the hour easier.

  • Wear loose clothes with sleeves and pant legs that roll up, and skip heavy perfume

  • Eat a light meal one to two hours before. Don't come hungry or very full

  • Bring your medicines and supplements, with doses

  • Bring your doctor's calendar and any instructions from your clinic

  • Put your phone on silent. Ask for a quiet visit on a hard day

Tell us first

Tell us when you book, and again at the visit, if any of these is true:

  • You are pregnant or might be.
  • You take a blood thinner, or you bleed or bruise easily.
  • You have a pacemaker or another implanted device.
  • You have had lymph nodes removed.
  • Needles worry you.
  • Your doctor has a procedure planned.

None of these means no. They change what we do.
